As I wasn't at Launchpad...

Since I wasn’t at Launchpad, Elizabeth introduced me to someone from the Scottish School of Social Enterprise (SSE). Even though I have not been in Canada, I still feel like I am getting just as many
opportunities as every one else.
I had a Skype meeting with the CEO of the SSE, Tracey, yesterday. She was very friendly and I was glad to find that the meeting was fairly informal as I was worried it would be very formal and that makes me nervous.
She spoke abot what the SSE in Scotland did and how they were involved with the British Council. Tracey told me that they worked with a whole range of Social Enterprise start ups to help them succeed. The SSE also run programs for students to learn about running a social enterprise. Tracey invited me to attend one of these “study sessions” next year. I think I might take her up on that offer. I would love to learn more about Social Enterprise. As a business student, I find the mix between a charitable organisation and a for-profit business really interesting. I would like to take part in one or two of these “study sessions” but it depends on whether I have the time next year. Come September, I start my final year at university and I will have a dissertation to write and my other modules to concentrate on as well so unfortunately I’m not sure I’ll have the time but I will keep it in the back of my mind in case I got a spare day or two.
The upshot of this Skype meeting was that she agreed to introduce me to a couple of people she knew and hopefully they could tell me a bit more about social enterprise. I would really like to expand my knowledge and as it’s an area I want to work in, I think I’ve got a better chance of getting a job the more people I know in the sector.
