A little bit about Jen...

Jennifer studies Biomedical Engineering at Ryerson University, located in Toronto, Ontario. Jennifer is extremely interested in social changemaking and interdisciplinary collaboration, with a particular focus on empowerment and capacity building in marginalized communities. She has previously organized around queer and trans*, racialized, and disabled initiatives, and is now excited to be working with Monwel, Ltd., in Ebbw Vale, Wales.

Monwel has been producing high quality signage for over 45 years, with 82% of its full-time employees, and 96% of its overall workforce, managing some form of disability. It has recently transitioned from being council-run to becoming a self-sustaining social enterprise looking to raise awareness and examine the impact of its social values amongst the local communities it serves. Some of the work that Jennifer will be doing with Monwel will include research and development of new manufacturing products, in addition to creating a model for not-for-profit organizations transitioning to the social enterprise sector.
